CULLMAN, Ala. — Cullman County Circuit Judge Gregory Nicholas responded to rumors of impending retirement Wednesday, saying that he has no plans to vacate the bench before the end of his new term. Citing the retirement of Judge Martha Williams and the election of a new circuit judge, Emily Niezer Johnston, Nicholas told The Tribune that he did not wish to see both circuit benches occupied by new judges simultaneously.
Nicholas still expressed confidence in his incoming colleague, saying, “I just met with Judge Johnston, and she has some great ideas.”
