CULLMAN, Ala. – With a line packed out the door with families taking advantage of the generous opportunity provided by Go Platinum Salon, Kristen Cryer and her team achieved their goal of giving back to the community.

On Saturday, Aug. 3, the Go Platinum Salon team set up shop at Daystar Church in preparation for a day full of kids receiving much-needed haircuts and school supplies. By the end of the day, 84 kids had received haircuts, and countless school supplies were given to kids in need.

Cryer, owner of Go Platinum Salon, is no stranger to understanding the impact haircuts can have on larger families and the confidence a fresh look can provide.

“Haircuts can add up quickly for a family with multiple kids, so I know we helped them save money. Haircuts also help the kids feel more confident, which I think is very important for the first day of school,” she shared.

Cryer, Emma Brock and Megan Blackmon Lewis were the hands behind the haircuts, while a large support team worked in the background to ensure students were provided with the school supplies on hand. Kool Breeze remained on-site for the entire event, providing free ice cream to all kids who got their haircuts.

When asked about how she thought the event went, Cryer shared, “For it being only our second year doing this, I’d say it went really well. Thank you so much to everyone who helped make this day possible, we couldn’t do it without you. Thank you to all the sweet families who showed up and waited patiently in line. I know God blessed everyone who showed up today and that is what it’s ultimately all about. God is good!”

With two years of success running, Cryer and her team look forward to the next.

“We plan to do this every year so if there are any businesses or individuals in our community that would like to help out next year, please let us know,” she stated.
