CULLMAN, Ala. – The Link of Cullman County will host its annual gala on Friday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. at the Cotton Creek Warehouse. This year, the theme of the gala is ‘Fruitful,’ paying homage to the work and services The Link offers to the community and the impact the organization has in the lives of its neighbors. This event will kick off the nonprofit’s end of the year giving campaign and mission focus for 2025.

Executive Director Melissa Betts shared, “Why ‘Fruitful’? In John 15:5, the Bible tells us that we are like branches of a vine. Those branches produce ‘fruit’ as long as they are attached to the life-giving vine. If we are “cut off” from the vine, we cannot live and produce good fruit. This is relatable to the work of The Link.”

The Link works with its neighbors in need through two ways: vital resources and long-term growth opportunities. Vital resources are immediate needs such as food assistance and basic needs; eliminating those needs for neighbors often increases trust in The Link, forging a community bond and allowing the second avenue of help to open.

“If people know that we care about their basic needs, they are more likely to share their other needs with us. This is where we offer our long-term growth opportunities and people learn to abide and bear much fruit,” Betts said.

This year’s gala will include a rustic Italian dinner, a silent auction packed with generously donated items and goods some of Cullman’s favorite merchants have to offer and plenty of opportunities for fellowship and giving. Festive cocktail attire is requested for the event.

The gala will also feature a service gallery, a visual conglomeration of The Link’s assistance and helping hands for its neighbors in need. The display is set to make an impact and highlight the significance and importance of the work being done by The Link and its volunteers.

Cayla Grace Murphy-Carnes, The Link’s marketing coordinator, shared, “This year, we will have a service gallery, which will be a hands-on way to show the statistics of our impact from 2024. We will also be awarding five awards to standout volunteers in our service areas.”

The Link is currently seeking sponsorships for the gala. Interested individuals, businesses or organizations should contact tiffanywright@linkingcullman.org for more information on sponsoring the event or donating items to the auction to benefit The Link.
