CULLMAN, Ala. – The United Way of Cullman County recently completed its seventh annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive. Residents were invited to donate new school supplies at drop-off locations around the community. They donated more than 21,000 individual school supplies that will go directly to local students.

UWCC Executive Director Stephanie Childers said, “We are overwhelmed with the outpouring of support for our seventh annual Stuff the Bus event this year! Even with rainy days, we had more volunteers and donations than we could have hoped for.”

Volunteers from every corner of the county were positioned and ready at various drop-off sites, assisting with donations and encouraging passersby to join in the drive. More than 30 community members volunteered, with more than $1,000 donated as well.

All in all, the more than 15 supply drive collection sites gathered an astounding 21,410 individual school supplies, which will directly benefit local students.

Childers smiled and said, “We truly appreciate everyone pitching in to make back-to-school a little easier for those in need.”
