Funeral services for Mary Ruth Ballard, 76, of Crane Hill will be 2 p.m., Wednesday August 7th at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Hanceville Funeral Home.
Born September 7, 1947, in Bremerhaven, Germany, she was known for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for those around her. A devoted fan of Elvis Presley, Mary found joy in listening to his music, often reminiscing about the golden days of rock ‘n’ roll. Her love for classic westerns and old-time TV shows was well-known among her family and friends; she could often be found in her favorite chair, engrossed in the timeless tales of the Old West or laughing along with the beloved characters of yesteryear. Mary had a special way with children, and every child she met felt deeply loved and cherished. Her sweet nature and nurturing spirit created a sense of comfort and belonging that was unmatched. Whether it was a warm hug, a kind word, or a gentle smile, she had a unique ability to make everyone feel special and cared for. Mary passed away at her residence in Crane Hill on August 1, 2024.
Ms. Ballard is survived by her brother, Norman Ballard (Connie); sister, Nancy Green (Louie); nieces and nephews, Wayne & Louren Ballard, Bobby Green, Sabrina & Ronny Gooden, Cyndi & Christopher Jones; great nieces and nephews, Christan & Zach Ballard, Tiffiany Green, Heather Green, Adam Green, Harmony Jones, Aurora Hubbard, Destiny Jones; and a host of extended family.
Ms. Ballard was preceded in death by her parents, Louie & Elfreida Ballard; her infant twin sister; and her nephew, Louie Green Jr.
