CULLMAN, Ala. – Smith Lake Baptist Church and Redeeming Grace Church are joining forces to host the annual Worship InStyle Camp at Smith Lake Baptist Church on Aug. 3, from 1-6:30 p.m. Clay Tankersley, associate pastor of Crossroads Baptist in Hayden, will deliver the message, and Weston Hutchins will lead the night of worship. Dinner will be served for all participants.
Worship InStyle is designed for all ages 5 and older, including adults. Attendees will participate in all aspects of summer camp in a single day. Registration for participants begins at 1, during which they can sign up for specific events or “tracks” they wish to participate in. Tracks include options such as battleball (dodgeball), outdoor games, table games, crafts, percussion, acts of kindness and much more.
Participants will be divided into groups based on age, each led by students from Smith Lake Baptist Church or Redeeming Grace Church. Attendees will experience all aspects of a summer camp in a single day. After being assigned to a Bible study group, they will engage in recreation activities, including puzzle-based team-building games, followed by Bible study sessions with their group.
After Bible study and recreation, the groups will participate in the “MEGA” relay event. Groups will compete against each other in a series of fun and competitive small events, aiming for the best overall time to win the MEGA Cup. The relay is designed to be inclusive, allowing adults to compete alongside younger participants.
Following MEGA relay, participants will have track time to engage in the activities they selected during registration. The day of camp will conclude with dinner and a worship service led by Tankersley and Hutchins.
Worship InStyle Camp has been an annual event for many years, created to provide the community with a one-day camp experience similar to what the youth group learned at FUGE Camps, a summer camp provided by Lifeway. As the camp has grown, more churches have joined the event. This year, 32 volunteer staff, mostly students, will facilitate a day of camp and learning about Jesus.
“If you have never experienced camp before, even if you are an adult, we invite you to come. We have seen so much life change from our camp experiences and wanted to bring a small piece of that home to our community. Let our students minister to you and share the life change that God has made in their lives,” shared Jamie Hutchins, Worship InStyle Camp organizer.
