Obituary: Louise Powell

Mrs. Dale Louise Powell, age 87, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away at Cullman Regional Medical Center July 28, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born on January 6th, 1937 to Louis Monroe and Annie Levonia Evans in Cullman. 

She is survived by her: daughter, Ginger Kay Cullen of Panama City; son, Mark A. (M’Kori) Johnson of Cullman; son, Van D. (Melissa) Johnson of Fort Walton; son, Jerme Powell of Cullman; daughter, Cindy (Shawn) Self of Good Hope. She is also survived by 13 Grandchildren; 18 Great grandchildren; 3 Great-great Grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends. 

Mrs. Louise was preceded in death by her brother Donald Evans and her sister Barbara Dean Evans, and her Parents Louis and Levonia Evans. 

Mrs. Louise was extremely talented and was a master gardener: she taught arts and crafts with the Senior Citizens of Cullman through Cullman Commission on Aging. She also owned a gas station in Vinemont and made the best Biscuits in town at the Shell Station on 278 and W. Main. She also was an accomplished cake baker and decorator doing several weddings and other special occasions. She also worked for a time as a seamstress for Porter Mills. As far as mothers go, she was simply the best! 

Her Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Hamby’s Chapel Cemetery on Eva Road. Her family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 p.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home.
