CULLMAN, Ala. – The 2024 Cullman County Prayer and Pledge Ride, hosted by 3Sixty Jeep Club, Alabama Sons of Liberty Riders and The Christian Motorcycle Association, is set to take place on Saturday, Aug. 3.

Participants will meet at Jack’s on Main Avenue Southwest in Cullman for breakfast and fellowship. At 7:40 a.m. the prayer and pledge ride will start with the first stop at Good Hope Elementary School. The group will spend roughly 10 minutes at each school, reciting the Prayer of the Christian Flag and the Pledge of Allegiance.

“We will be meeting with fellow Jeepers, bikers and anyone else wanting to come out to Jack’s for breakfast and fellowship with like-minded individuals as we pray over our local schools and exercise our First Amendment right,” shared Summer Shaddix, one of the event organizers representing 3Sixty Jeep Club.

All listed ride times are tentative depending on traffic. Participants that cannot make the initial kickoff are encouraged to meet at any of the schools at any point during the ride. Cars and trucks are welcome to follow along.

The event schedule includes:

  • Good Hope Elementary: 8 a.m.
  • Hanceville Elementary: 8:30 a.m.
  • Welti Elementary: 8:55 a.m.
  • Holly Pond Elementary: 9:25 a.m.
  • Parkside Elementary: 9:50 a.m.
  • Fairview Elementary: 10:30 a.m.
  • Cullman County Child Development Center: 11 a.m.
  • Vinemont Elementary: 11:15 a.m.
  • West Point Elementary: 11:50 a.m.
  • Harmony Elementary: 12:45 p.m.
  • Cold Springs Elementary: 1:30 p.m.

Explaining the inspiration behind the event, Shaddix said, “With everything going on in the world, the schools in which our children attend and are supposed to be their safe place, need all the prayers they can get. The superintendent of Cullman County Schools started this ride 12 years ago, and when several atheists stated they would protest, The Christian Motorcycle Association and Alabama Sons of Liberty Riders stepped in to support this wonderful ride.”

With the route including stops at each Cullman County elementary school, organizers said the ride aims to emphasize the importance of prayer and community support for the local schools and the students and faculty that attend them as well as the freedom to be able to pray over each one in such a public manner.

“This event supports our freedom of speech, our right to assemble and our need to bring God and prayer back into schools,” Shaddix stated. “We hope to bring back God, family and American values, united to stand for a better society that is not turning its back against each other but reaching out to lift one another up.”
