CULLMAN, Ala. – Rock the South saw around 50,000 attendees at this year’s three-day festival over the past weekend.
The Cullman Police Department handled things inside the venue, while the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office managed everything outside the venue, including parking.
Cullman Police Chief David Nassetta said around 15 adults were arrested over the weekend.
“The arrests were mainly public intoxication or disorderly conduct; we did have one resisting arrest,” Nassetta said. “We had no other major issues. It was a long three days, but overall went pretty smoothly. The weather was great – other than a little rain, the temperatures were much more comfortable. Traffic cleared out each night, faster than previous years.”
Cullman Regional Spokesperson Jennifer Malone shared final numbers for Cullman EMS medical tent treatments of 771 for the three days.
“On Thursday, there were 230 who came in for cooling, 31 treated, and six were transported,” Malone said. “On Friday, 216 came to the medical tent to receive a cooling opportunity; 31 were treated for injury or illness and four were transported to an ER for emergency care. On Saturday, 311 came in for cooling, 47 were treated and there were two transports from the venue.”
CCSO Communications Director Chad Whaley said overall the traffic and crowds (at least on the outside) were great.
“This was probably the smoothest year to date,” Whaley said. “As far as arrests and demeanor inside the gates I am not sure. Since the CPD handled the arrests inside, I never heard a total.”
