CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City Council on Monday approved improvements to Depot Park and the new OmniPlex Sports and Civic Center project.  The council accepted a $335,988 bid for a “large shade structure” in the park from Great Southern Recreation, and a $191,860 bid for landscaping and irrigation from Bright Landscapes, LLC. Landscaping and irrigation at the OmniPlex were also awarded to Bright Landscapes, in the amount of $366,140.

The council also approved resolutions to:

  • Apply for a Community Block Development Grant for improvements on Logan Street Southwest
  • Add three new personnel positions to the Cullman Street Department

The council approved the rezoning of property on Olive Street near Lin Garden and Rock N’ Roll Sushi from residential to business, and held first readings of ordinances to amend its sidewalk regulations, and to annex property owned by Pioneer Land Acquisitions, on County Road 770 near the Cullman Electric Cooperative office, into the city as an R-4 residential district, allowing the construction of any structures, from single-family homes to a “high-density” apartment complex on the property. The council can vote on the ordinances at its next meeting.

The Cullman City Council meets next on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 7 p.m. in the city hall auditorium. The public is invited to attend.
