CULLMAN, Ala. – The Accessing Potential Through Assistive Technology (APTAT) on the Road event is making its way to Cullman on Tuesday,  July 16, from 1-7 p.m. at the Cullman Wellness & Aquatic Center. This event offers a unique opportunity for individuals with disabilities to explore the latest advancements in assistive technology.

APTAT is a federally funded grant program in Alabama that aims to increase awareness and access to assistive technology for people with disabilities. The APTAT on the Road event is part of a statewide tour designed to reach rural areas where residents may not have easy access to these crucial resources.

The event will feature a wide array of assistive technology devices, including wheelchairs, speech devices for those who cannot communicate verbally and tools to help visually impaired individuals see computer screens. Attendees will have the opportunity to see demonstrations of these technologies, ask questions and even try some devices before making a purchase.

Experts will be on-hand to provide detailed explanations of the various technologies and assist with the acquisition process. Additionally, APTAT offers a lending program that allows individuals to borrow a device for 30 days to determine if it meets their needs before committing to a purchase.

While registration for the event is not required, it is encouraged to help organizers understand the specific needs of the community. To sign up, visit www.surveymonkey.com/r/RQ6RG3K. For those interested in the lending program, further information can be found at www.al.at4all.com.
