BAILEYTON, Ala. – The Parkside Outreach Program is gearing up for its third annual Back-to-School Bash. This family friendly event will feature a host of fun and resources for all ages, with a special focus on the needs of incoming students and families who may face insecurities with housing, food or finances.

The morning’s fun will consist of larger-than-life inflatable slides and bouncy houses, face painting, train rides, live music all morning long and tasty treats like a free lunch and sno-cones. Children are welcome to play while meeting the school’s students, faculty and staff in a fun, light-hearted atmosphere.

While the event is a celebration of the upcoming school year, the needs of the students and community are always at the forefront. The Parkside Outreach Program is home to a thrift store that, through donations and sales, has year after year provided Parkside students and their families with necessary school supplies, backpacks, hygiene products, clothes and shoes and even food through its food pantry – all free of charge to the families.

“Parkside Outreach is always accepting donations at the thrift store, which helps us to be able to fund all the events that we put on as well as our food pantry,” said Parkside Outreach’s Dakota Trammell.

Each year at the bash, middle school students are eligible to receive an $85 voucher and elementary students are eligible to receive a $50 voucher to help purchase a new pair of shoes from The Shoe Department.

This year, Trammell said, supplies will not be handed out at the event as in years past. Not because the organization could not supply them, but because through community donations, the Parkside Outreach Program was able to supply all of the necessary school supplies for Parkside K-8 for the 2024-2025 school year.

Trammell smiled, “All of the supplies for Parkside students are already at the school with the teachers ready for the first day of school.”

The Parkside Back-to-School Bash will take place on Saturday, July 27, at Parkside School from 9 a.m.-noon. Students must be present at the bash and currently registered at Parkside School for the 2024-2025 school year to receive back-to-school assistance.

Parkside is located at 12431 Alabama Highway 69 N, Baileyton, AL 35019.
