CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman Police Department on Thursday, June 27, announced the arrest of Justin Wade Perry, 32, of Cullman County, for allegedly illegally recording video in the women’s restroom in the south Cullman Walmart.

According to a statement issued by the CPD:

On 06/25/2024, the Cullman Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious male who had entered the women’s restroom of Walmart South and had been caught by a customer recording individuals in the restroom. The male was confronted and fled the store before law enforcement’s arrival. An investigation was launched, and Walmart provided investigators with video of the suspect and the vehicle in which he arrived.

On 06/26/2024, Sgt. Higginbotham, Investigator Watkins, and Investigator Riddlesperger were able to identify the male as Justin Wade Perry, a registered sex offender, age 32 of West Point. A warrant was issued for Mr. Perry and this morning, 06/27/2024 he was taken into custody during a search warrant at his residence. Mr. Perry was charged with Aggravated Criminal Surveillance, a Class C Felony. This investigation is ongoing, and more charges are expected to follow.

Perry was charged with misdemeanor forms of the same crime in 2019 and twice in 2020. The two later charges were dismissed when he pled guilty to the first.

Court records indicate that Perry is currently in the county jail, but could be released on $10,000 bail.

This is a developing story.
