GOOD HOPE, Ala. – Good Hope’s City Council held its second June meeting at Good Hope City Hall Monday night and got things started with a rezoning ordinance. The City’s Planning Commission held a public hearing June 17 and all nine members voted to recommend the rezoning of 33.68 acres located at 2551 County Road 437 (Corey Harbison Park) from R1 (Residential) to GB (General Business). The Council passed Ordinance No: 010-2024 to approve the rezoning.

The Council also approved Resolution No: 016-2024 to award a bid for architectural services on its new multi-use storm shelter project. After grading two different bids that they received, the council awarded the bid to Waggoner Engineering, Inc. to ‘provide professional architectural services for Congressionally Directed Spending under USDA’s Community Facilities Program’.

Mayor Jerry Bartlett was also happy to report that Love’s and McDonalds are making good progress on their new location set for County Road 222 near I-65’s 305 exit. McDonalds and Love’s are aiming for a November opening date.

The Good Hope City Council will hold its next regularly scheduled meeting Monday, July 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Good Hope City Hall.
