Obituary: Juanita Tankersley Haynes

Juanita Tankersley Haynes, born October 13, 1931, a lifelong resident of Fairview, Alabama, passed away at her home on May 28, 2024, at the age of 92. Mrs. Haynes was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Howard Eugene “Bud” Haynes, her parents, Reuben and Eunice Tankersley, and her siblings: Buddy Tankersley, Mickey Tankersley and Kenneth Tankersley. She is survived by her four children: Dr. Dennis Haynes (Charlotte), Darrel Haynes (Lydia), Sharon Haynes Litchfield (Frank) and Kevin Haynes (Stacie). 
 
She was a loving and cherished grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Polly Tankersley. Juanita graduated from Fairview High School in 1950 and dedicated her life to her family and the Fairview community. A devoted member of Concord Baptist Church since 1947, she was actively involved in various church activities and supported her husband in his role as Deacon. She especially loved serving her community through her volunteer work at Concord’s Corinthian Co-op Ministry helping with Vacation bible school. 
 
Juanita’s unwavering faith and love for her family were evident in everything she did. Known for her warm hospitality and generous spirit, Juanita opened her home to many and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Her passion for gardening and cooking brought joy to her family and friends, and her home was often filled with the laughter and love of those she held dear. 
 
There will be a service in celebration of Juanita’s life at 11 a.m. at Concord Baptist Church Saturday, June 1, 2024. The family will receive friends before the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Remembering the spirit of Juanita’s hospitality, the family invites friends, and guests to stay for a time of visitation with lunch after the service. 
 
The burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Jack Holbrook. Her grandsons will serve as her pallbearers: Jonathan Haynes, Ben Haynes, Bart Haynes, Joshua Haynes, David Haynes, Frank Litchfield, Haynes Litchfield, and Karlson Haynes. 
 
The family would like to express their appreciation to caregiver Bridgette Taylor, Gentiva Hospice and Visiting Angels for their dedication to her care. 
 
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
