HANCEVILLE, Ala. – On May 25, downtown Hanceville will transform into a hub of culinary delight and community celebration with the fourth annual Grilled Cheese Festival. From 9 a.m.-5 p.m., attendees can indulge in a unique festival dedicated to everyone’s favorite comfort food: the grilled cheese sandwich.

Event coordinator Nolan Bradford promised a day packed with activities and treats for all ages: “This is our fourth year for this event, and it continues to grow.  Each year brings a variety of new vendors, as well as some of the older favorites.  While you’re here, take time to visit the local downtown businesses who offer a variety of products you don’t find very often in one area, with that unique hometown feel you grew up with.”

The Grilled Cheese Festival will feature live music, street vendors, more than 10 food trucks and a variety of other specialty food and craft item vendors. Over 50 vendors are expected to line the streets, offering everything from retail items to handmade crafts. The arts and crafts available will range from jewelry to home décor.

For younger attendees, there will be bouncy houses for extra fun.

True to its theme, the festival will spotlight an array of grilled cheese variations.

“Most of the food trucks will have their variation of the grilled cheese, while some local restaurants will also be participating,” Bradford stated. Moreover, the festival will host a grilled cheese cookoff competition for both adults and kids, promising a cheesy highlight for the day. The competition will kick off at 11:45 a.m.

The musical lineup includes three local bands: Junction 231, Crossing Grass and the O’Toole Brothers, each bringing their unique sounds to the festival stage. Junction 231 is slated to start its set at 10 a.m. O’Toole Brothers will follow at 1 p.m. with Crossing Grass closing out the day starting around 2:30 p.m.

Having become an integral part of Hanceville’s cultural calendar, the Grilled Cheese Festival not only serves as a day of enjoyment, but also supports the local community.

“Events like this will help to continue the downtown revitalization effort and help grow Hanceville and attract new businesses and families to our area. All profits are donated back into the community,” Bradford shared.

As a note, Bradford requested that all interested in applying to be a vendor call before submitting an application, as the festival is nearing capacity on vendor space.
