FAIRVIEW, Ala. – At its monthly meeting on Monday, May 6, the Fairview Town Council voted to assist the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department with some necessary purchases.

Fire Chief Alan Miner requested that the council consider assisting the fire department with its purchase of new hoses, AED adapters and other medical supplies.

Miner also discussed the fire department’s new accounting system that is in the process being implemented. He reassured the council that this new financial system will create transparency in the VFD’s spending and also ensure the department is eligible to apply for grants by August 2024.

Miner stated, “If y’all see any way clear to help us, we would appreciate it and any little bit will help. I’m looking forward to working with the Town. I want everything else to be in the past; we’re looking forward.”

Councilman Steve Eddleman made a motion to fully cover all needs for the department up to $12,000. The motion was unanimously approved.

In other business, the council:

  • Received proposals from CDG Engineering for park plans
  • Approved a motion to pay bills
  • Approved renewal of AirEvac coverage

The next Fairview Town Council meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on June 3, 2024, at Fairview Town Hall, located at 7525 Alabama Highway 69.
