BAILEYTON, Ala. – At its monthly meeting on Monday, May 6, the Baileyton Town Council presented the Volunteer of the Year award to Jennifer Harlow.
Councilman Dewayne Sumner shared, “A volunteer is a person who steps up and does things for the betterment of others without ever really caring if they get anything in return. The person we selected really does epitomize what a volunteer is.”
Surrounded by family and community, Harlow humbly accepted the award. Harlow is on the advisory council at Parkside School and serves as director of the Parkside Outreach Program.
When asked about her areas of volunteer service, she smiled, “You name it, and I’ll do it.”
In other business, the council:
- Removed previous town clerk from accounts and added new town clerk
- Approved the purchase of a plaque for the upcoming Citizen of the Year award
- Discussed bids on new building
- Approved AirMed renewal
The next Baileyton Town Council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on June 3, 2024, at Baileyton Town Hall, located at 95 Fire Station Road.
