John Gorden Cook, age 84 of Hanceville, AL. died Saturday April 27, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Cook; parents: Louis Thomas “Tom” and Pearl Austell Cook; sister, Ima Lee Cook; and his brothers: Dwight Franklin Cook and Gilbert Cook.
Gorden is survived by his daughters: Janet Leah Thomas (Jim) and Shelia Slatton (George); son, Bart Cook (Anne); sisters: Marriel Humphrey (Leon) and Mara Nell Bradley (John); brothers: Wallace Cook (Dean), Earl Cook (Joan) and Louis Cook (Martha); 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends at Moss Service Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, May 1, 2024 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The celebration of Mr. Cook’s life will be Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Gardendale, AL. at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
