CULLMAN, Ala. – Arab-based nonprofit God’s Feral Felines, focused on reducing cat overpopulation, has been awarded a $2,500 grant by national nonprofit Petco Love. This investment supports the organization’s efforts in Marshall and Cullman counties to offer spay and neuter services at reduced costs.

Petco Love has been a significant player in animal welfare since 1999, investing millions in adoption and other lifesaving initiatives. Its commitment extends to helping local organizations like God’s Feral Felines ensure that no pet is unnecessarily euthanized.

“Our investment in God’s Feral Felines is part of more than $15 million in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized. Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us,” shared Petco Love President Susanne Kogut.

Until May 3, God’s Feral Felines will offer special $40 spay/neuter certificates as part of this initiative.

“We are grateful and privileged to have secured this lifesaving investment from Petco Love. Our primary focus remains on spaying and neutering through all our initiatives. By encouraging cat owners to have their pets spayed and neutered, we contribute to reducing the need for TNR (trap-neuter-return) cats and rescues in the future,” explained Pamela Keck, director of God’s Feral Felines. These certificates are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of 50 available through the organization’s website. The $40 fee includes spaying or neutering and a rabies vaccine.

God’s Feral Felines serves the communities of Marshall, Cullman and Blount counties and has recently expanded its services to include Etowah County. This nonprofit organization focuses on the spaying and neutering of both community and owned cats, aiming to control and reduce the local feline population responsibly.

By the end of 2023, God’s Feral Felines had sterilized 5,814 cats, with plans to continue this work into 2024. This year, while continuing its TNR initiatives, God’s Feral Felines will focus primarily on providing affordable spay and neuter services to cats owned by low-income families.
