CULLMAN, Ala. – Pink, petals and pearls were all the rage Wednesday, April 24, at the Venue at Cotton Creek. The Pilot Club of Cullman, with the support of the community, hosted its 29th Annual fashion show and luncheon, this year dubbed the Pink Petals & Pearls Fashion Show.
Each year, the proceeds from the show directly benefit one or more of the Pilot Club’s philanthropic causes. The 2024 show’s funds will support four of the civic organization’s projects: the Pilot Light Home, Project Lifesaver, Brain Minders and the Field of Miracles.
Pilot Club members, clad in pink shirts and white pants, were the backbone of the operation. They welcomed guests, guided them to their tables and introduced them to the nearly 20 vendor booths for some pre-show shopping. As guests explored the offerings from Better than Before, The Copper Cricket, Karma’s Coffee House, R&L Honey Farms and other vendors, Pilot Club members were busy ensuring that each of the more than 25 tables was served a delicious meal.
Marco’s Pizza provided the meal, and the guests geared up for the afternoon’s main event: the fashion show.
The event was hosted by the Pilot Club as a whole; however, three individuals put in the work to make it perfect, working until the wee hours of each morning – Pilot Club President Julie Burks and Event Co-Chairs, Charlotte Eklund and Tina Chapman. They spent weeks finalizing details and nailing down specifics for the event, all culminating in one two-hour extravaganza. The ladies ran the show seamlessly, from the lined-up vendors to the perfect tablescapes.
“If it had not been for Tina and Charlotte and the way they have made sure everything has worked, I would be in trouble right now,” laughed Burks.
Ken Brown acted as the event’s emcee, describing and offering details about each ensemble in the show. Local sponsors of the event graciously “donated” employees to model and style clothing for the parade, with models coming from Cullman Regional and its various medical groups, Cullman Fire Rescue and Cullman Caring for Kids.
Models who were students, teachers, plastic surgeons, nonprofit directors and even local EMS and fire and rescue personnel were paraded around the stage in fine fabrics and glittering gowns provided by Mr. Hicks Mens Wear, Better Than Before and The Copper Cricket; support for the Pilot Club of Cullman and its causes the one thing they have in common.
At the end of the event, Chapman shared, “We are blessed, so blessed. The support that the community gives us, the people that help us, is amazing.”
