CULLMAN, Ala. – One Cold Springs High School senior will get to take the journey of his life this summer in Japan.  Clayton Gary was awarded the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Japanese Exchange Program Sponsorship. Gary is a very talented and deserving student, selected as one of only 14 students from across the United States for the prestigious FCCLA Japanese program.

This incredible opportunity includes a generous $9,995 sponsorship from Kikkoman Corporations and is administered by Youth For Understanding USA (YFU), allowing Gary to embark on a six-week cultural immersion experience in Japan this summer.

At the heart of the FCCLA Japanese Exchange Program lies a profound belief: true international understanding is born from personal experiences. FCCLA believes in the power of family living as the foundation of overseas learning. By embracing the day-to-day life of another country and its people, Gary will be gaining a deep insight into global issues, broadening his horizons in ways he may have never thought possible.

Gary will be in the midst of time-honored traditions, from savoring the serenity of a traditional tea ceremony to mastering martial arts and immersing himself in the lively atmosphere of local summer festivals. The journey for this senior at Cold Springs will be embarking on cultural immersion, personal growth and memories that will last a lifetime.

Gary’s FCCLA adviser is Stephanie Blair.
