James “Kenneth” Neal, Sr. of Cullman, Alabama, passed away on April 8, 2024, at the age of 89. He was born in Cullman to Earnest R. Neal and Gracie Nix Neal. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dot Neal; daughter, Melissa Bice; and sisters, Evelyn Hardin, Norma Bradford, and Sue Robinson.

He is survived by his son, James (Tonya) Neal; son-in-law, David Bice; brother, Reggie (Karen) Neal; grandchildren, Cole Bice and Hilary (Josh) Nix; great-grandchildren, Harrison Nix, Hayden Nix, Hadlee Nix, Jace Miller, and Brooklyn Miller.

Kenneth was a beloved figure in his community, and he leaves behind a legacy of dedication, generosity, and service that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He dedicated much of his life to the noble profession of farming. His expertise in agriculture was not only a livelihood but a testament to his character.

Beyond his farm, Kenneth was a pillar of his community, known for his selfless acts of kindness and tireless service. He served with distinction on the Cullman County School Board for multiple years, where his leadership and commitment to education were truly commendable. For many years, he also volunteered his time and expertise to the Trimble Volunteer Fire Department, where he ultimately served as chief for multiple years.

In addition to his civic endeavors, he was actively involved in various farming organizations, where his leadership was invaluable.

James Kenneth Neal will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, cherished friend, and exemplary citizen. His legacy of compassion, integrity, and service will continue to inspire generations to come. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 11, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church from 9-11 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., with interment following services at Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
