CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Board of Education (CCBOE) held a special-called meeting on Monday, April 1. The purpose was to address two changes to current work orders for two Cullman County Schools and the approval of a bid for re-roofing projects at Fairview campuses.
Board President Gene Sullins began the meeting with a congratulations to Superintendent Dr. Shane Barnette for his recent election victory.
Barnette opened the business with a request for the board to approve a change to a current order for the new gym project at Cold Springs High School. The change increases the total cost of the project to $224,112.90. The board approved Barnette’s request.
“We’ve been negotiating some of this change order for Cold Springs for a while,” he said. “So, we felt like we needed to have a special-called board meeting to get this paid and get it moved out and move forward.”
The second approved order change on the agenda was a reduction of the cost for the Holly Pond welding shop. The change deducts $4,894.20 from the project’s total cost.
The final item was approval of a bid received by the Cullman County Schools Maintenance Department for various roofing projects across campuses at Fairview Middle and Elementary Schools, as well as projects at Hanceville Elementary School. The bid was approved to be awarded to Excel General Contractors for $496,000.
The next CCBOE meeting will be held on Thursday, April 11. The work session will begin at 3:30 p.m. with the meeting immediately following.
