CULLMAN, Ala. – A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 7:34 p.m. Monday, April 1, claimed the life of a Bremen man. Alabama State Troopers identified the victim as Cody L. Self, 33.
Troopers said Self was fatally injured when the 2006 Mazda 3i he was driving collided head-on with a 2016 GMC Yukon driven by Megan D. Swidecki, 38, of Hanceville.
Troopers said Self was not using a seat belt at the time of crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The passengers in the GMC, Kelley M. Waunch, 61; a 7-year-old; 8-year-old; and 10-year-old – all of Hanceville, were injured and transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The crash occurred on County Road 38, near County Road 46, approximately 3 miles south of Dodge City, in Cullman County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
