HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The Hanceville Irish Festival took place on Saturday, March 16, drawing a crowd to historic downtown Hanceville to enjoy live music, food and goods, services and specialties from vendors.
Festival organizer and member of Friends of the Festival, Nolan Bradford has said, “This is our seventh year, and the festival continues to grow each year. Events like this will help to continue the revitalization of our downtown, help the city to grow and attract new businesses and families to our area.”
This year, the event kicked off on a chilly spring morning, but by noon the sun was shining and the crowd was in full swing. In addition to families and groups perusing the aisles and rows of vendor booths, the event boasted a plethora of food trucks. Ellie B’s Lemonade, Devil Dawgs Concessions, Smokin’ Joe’s BBQ, The Butchers Chuckwagon and Jus Corn Roasted Corn lined “food truck alley,” enticing guests toward the center of the festival.
Bradford said of the 2024 Irish Festival, “(It was the) largest vendor turnout so far of any event we sponsor, with over 70 vendors participating. There was an excellent turnout by the community and surrounding areas. The cloggers and bagpipes were a new addition this year and will be back for future events in addition to the normal entertainment.”
Children were able to have their faces painted or get glittery hair extensions by FairyHair or twist up a new best pal from Balloons by Tracy before jetting off to the towering inflatable slide.
While the inflatable, face painting, balloons and snacks may have been enough to keep the little humans happy and content, live entertainment was on deck all day for the adults. Local artists like Junction 231, Marcella Thomas, Sam Pointer, The O’Toole Brothers, Don Neil with the bagpipes and the Clog Wild Cloggers kept the crowd entertained.
