CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) made multiple arrests over the last several days, including:

Feb. 20

Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the city of Cullman. Justin Dwayne Turner, 41, of Hanceville, was identified as the driver. 

A subsequent search of his vehicle and his person allegedly yielded various narcotics and paraphernalia.

Turner was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of opium or derivative, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance (probation violation) and reckless endangerment (probation violation). 

Feb. 22

Deputies located two suspicious vehicles stuck in a field in the Phelan community. Jordan Austin Creel, 30, of Baileyton, and Marco Ortiz, 37, of Cullman, were identified with the vehicles in question. 

Deputies and investigators allegedly located stolen property, narcotics and paraphernalia in their possession. Both were placed under arrest.

Creel is charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, four counts of burglary/breaking and entering and four counts of larceny.

Ortiz is charged with four counts of burglary/breaking and entering and four counts of larceny.

Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the city of Cullman. 

The suspect vehicle did not immediately stop, and allegedly made several turns in an attempt to elude deputies. Shortly thereafter, the vehicle did stop. 

Matthew Scott James, 33, of Baileyton, was identified as the driver. 

Deputies determined that James had an outstanding warrant and attempted to place him under arrest. He allegedly resisted and fled on foot. 

A subsequent search of James’ vehicle allegedly yielded stolen property and narcotics.

Deputies located James a short distance from the initial traffic stop a short while later.

James allegedly resisted again, but was placed under arrest. 

A subsequent search of his person allegedly yielded paraphernalia.

He is charged with receiving stolen property, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, attempting to elude and resisting arrest. 

Feb. 23

Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of Colony. Christopher Ryan Moore, 32,  of Bremen, was identified as the passenger in the vehicle. 

Deputies determined that Moore had an outstanding warrant. 

A subsequent search of his person allegedly yielded narcotics and paraphernalia.

Moore was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and a traffic violation (warrant).

Deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the area of Catalina Point. Upon arrival, they located the alleged victim and alleged offender on scene. 

Robert Heath Pope, 56, of Cullman, was identified as the alleged offender.

Pope and the victim had gotten into an argument and the confrontation turned physical. Pope was placed under arrest.

He is charged with elder abuse.  

Feb. 25

Deputies arrested Felipe Torres Lopez, 34, of Tanner, Alabama, on multiple failure to appear warrants.

He is charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Feb. 27

Investigators arrested Grant James Schaefers, 40, of Crane Hill, on a charge stemming from an incident that was reported in early February.

Schaefers is charged with second-degree sexual abuse.
