Bobby Lee Gordon, Sr., 89, passed away Feb. 21, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Sue Gordon of Cullman, Alabama; and sister, Betty Benefield and her husband Eddie Benefield of Mt. Olive, Alabama.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Marlene Gilmore Gordon, of Midfield, Alabama; son, Bobby Lee Gordon, Jr., of Ocala, Florida; step-son, Rodney Freeman (Robbie), of Concord, Alabama; step-daughter, Renea Cannon (Jerry), of Calera, Alabama; grandchildren, Brian Thompson (Will), of Austin, Texas, Natalie Johnson (Logan), of Trussville, Alabama, Madison Wade (Luke), of Pinson, Alabama; five great-grandchildren, Leighton, Nate, and Charlie Johnson, June Thompson, and Kendall Wade; sister, Linda Boyd (Tom), of Hanceville, Alabama.
Bob was born in Cullman, Alabama. He grew up in Holly Pond, and graduated from Holly Pond High School. Bob served in the US Navy, stationed in Key West, Florida on the USS Weatherford and was honorably discharged in Dec. of 1959. He retired from Tannehill State Park in 2005.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, old trucks and cars. He loved watching Alabama Football and Atlanta Braves Baseball; until this last baseball season, he knew every player’s name on the Braves team.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery. All attendees are requested to meet at Elmwood Chapel Funeral home at 800 Dennison Ave SW to proceed to the graveside.
