There, while working at the Chart Room in the French Quarter, she met Augustus Maloney, a patron and sailor recently discharged from the Navy. They fell in love, married and had two sons.

Gus, a boilermaker, relocated the family to Illinois for work. Lorena began work at Morton Community Bank (MCB) in Morton, IL. She loved the banking environment and loved her friends at the bank. Upon Gus’ retirement, the family moved to Mobile, AL where Lorena continued work in banking. Upon the death of her husband, she moved back to Illinois and back to work at MCB, where she stayed until her retirement.

Ultimately, Lorena moved to Alabama to be near family. She was active in church and had strong faith in God. Predeceasing her are her mother, father and husband. She is also predeceased by brothers Wilmer, Delmar and Jack, and sisters Cola, Mable, Margie and Alice.

Lorena is survived by sons Timothy of Peoria, IL and Christian (Sharon) of Blountsville, AL, sister Lola Stogner of Pasadena, Texas, and many nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held prior to internment at Pine Crest Cemetery West in Mobile, Alabama.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her memory.
