Memorial for Richard L. Olson, LTC (Ret), age 78, of Cullman, is Monday, Feb. 5, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church in Trimble. Interment will follow at Sardis Baptist Cemetery.

Mr. Olson was born April 18, 1945, to Gess Olson and Gladys Simonson Olson. He passed from this life on Jan. 25, 2024.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Wanda Shaddix Olson; one son, Richard Lane Olson, Jr. (Crissi); two daughters, Jennifer White (Matt), and Tracy Collins (Jonathan); one sister, Sandra Faye Johnson; grandchildren, Joni Olson, Garrett Olson, Reid Olson, Oleta Olson, Lauren Barnett (Jagger), Ryan White; one great-grandchild, Wyatt Barnett; and a host of family and friends.
Richard was a longtime and faithful member of Sardis Baptist Church and he loved the Lord more than anything. He was a devout, loving husband, father, and grandfather to his family. He was very social and had a great sense of humor. He loved his country and was very patriotic. He honorably served in the U.S. Army and U.S. National Guard for over 32 years. He was a wonderful man and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
