Jacob Daniel Thomas, known to most as “Jake,” passed away on Jan. 17, 2024, at the age of 42. Mr. Thomas was born to Danny Lee and Debra Phillips Thomas on Sep. 9, 1981, in Cullman County, Alabama.
Jake was an employee of the City of Cullman. In his personal time, Mr. Thomas enjoyed fishing, cooking, grilling, hanging out with his friends, and just loafin’ around. But Jake’s great love was his daughter, Ava. He supported his baby girl in all that she did, and he could be found cheering her on at her basketball, volleyball, and track events. Mr. Thomas adored his daughter and will be greatly missed by Ava, as well as his many friends and his family.
Jake is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, Ava Thomas; Ava’s mother and his dear friend, Tara Thomas; brother, Jed Thomas; friends who were like family, Randy and Amy Dunn, Heath and BreAnn Allbright, John Mark Vandiver; nieces and nephews, Ty, Tucker, Clara, Cade, Lily; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services for Jake will be Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at 12 noon, in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel with Shane Hicks officiating. Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation two hours prior to service time from 10 a.m., until services begin. Mr. Thomas will be buried in Simcoe Methodist Cemetery following services.
In lieu of flowers, an account has been established at People’s Bank of Alabama to benefit Ava’s future. Please indicate that donations be placed in the account of “Tara Thomas for Ava Thomas.”
Holly Pond Funeral Home is honored to serve the Thomas family.
