CULLMAN, Ala. – Relay For Life of Cullman County, known for hosting an annual event dedicated to raising funds and awareness for cancer research, has announced the dates and locations for its 2024 season. This year’s Relay For Life will take place at Depot Park in downtown Cullman on Saturday, April 27, from 5-10 p.m. The Relay For Life Survivors Breakfast will be April 24, at 7 a.m. at Cullman Church of Christ, and the Survivors Dinner will take place at 5 p.m. on April 27, across the street from Depot Park.
Relay For Life 2024 kicks off on Thursday, Jan. 18, at 5:30 p.m. The first meeting of the year will take place in the fellowship hall of Cullman First Baptist Church, where participants, sponsors and supporters will come together to launch this year’s campaign.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude to the community, Relay volunteers, dedicated teams and generous sponsors, event team leadership chairperson Helen Allen emphasized the significant impact of collective support on the success of Relay For Life.
“We extend our sincere appreciation to the community, Relay volunteers, hard-working teams and sponsors who have generously contributed to our cause in the past. Without your unwavering support, Relay For Life would not exist, and crucial funds for vital programs aimed at eradicating cancer would be unattainable,” remarked Allen, highlighting the importance of education, prevention and early detection in the fight against cancer.
“A cancer diagnosis is devastating, but catching it early provides patients with a much greater chance of survival, avoiding the treatments we all fear,” Allen explained. “Supporting research is crucial for developing more effective tests and treatments. We must continue to back these efforts for the benefit of future generations.”
Relay For Life is a movement that brings people together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost and collectively fight back against a disease that has touched countless lives. This year, the theme is “An Era of Hope,” symbolizing the progress made and the optimism for a future free from the burdens of cancer.
All are invited to join in the fight against cancer, celebrate survivors and contribute to the ongoing progress in cancer research. To register a team, donate or learn more, visit www.relayforlife.org/cullmanal or contact Helen Allen at 256-709-4019 or helenma1941@gmail.com.
