Bernice Wynelle Hesterley, 88, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away on Jan. 4, 2024. Wynelle was born on Dec. 29, 1935 to Mae and Clyde Parker in Cullman.
After graduating from Cullman High School in 1954, she began work at Leeth National Bank serving in the positions of teller, operations officer and director, later opening and working for People’s Bank in Cullman. Upon retirement from 20 years in banking, she was hired by Wallace State Community College as the new bookstore manager. She enjoyed being with and advising the students and even served as the cheerleading sponsor. She retired permanently in 2004 to spend time with her growing family of five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In high school she met Joe Brown, and they wed in 1956, going on to have three children, Rhonda, Cindy, and Roger. She dedicated her life to being a loving, wonderful mother. In 1999, she met and married John Hesterley and was happily married until he passed away in 2010.
She is predeceased by her parents, sisters Ella Mae (Jack), Runette, Sue, Jean, and Louise, brothers Levis and Emil and her husband, John. She is survived by daughters, Rhonda Dennison and Cindy Brown, and son, Roger Brown.
