WALTER, Ala. – Cullman Police and Cullman Sheriff’s deputies search for suspect as a manhunt is actively underway in Walter while firefighters extinguish a farm field fire. As of now the two incidents have not been confirmed as related.
According to a spokesman for CCSO, earlier today, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office issued a BOLO for a vehicle that had been stolen from their county at gunpoint.
“Around 1 p.m. Cullman County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle from the earlier BOLO,” said the CCSO spokesman. “The vehicle refused to stop and a short pursuit ensued. The vehicle wrecked in the area of County Road 750 and County Road 703.”
Once stopped it was reported that two individuals fled from the vehicle on foot.
“One subject is believed to be bald and the other possibly has grey hair. One of the individuals is possibly wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt,” said the CCSO spokesman. “K9 Tracking Deputies and the Cullman City PD helicopter have responded to the scene to assist with the search.”
Both subjects have been detained as of 2:10 p.m.
“Just received word that both of the suspects from the vehicle pursuit have been located and are in custody,” stated the CCSO spokesman.
Cullman Fire and Rescue Chief Brian Bradberry stated, “We have not been dispatched to anything out that way. I checked and this is a County call. We believe that is Walter Volunteer Fire Department.”
The farm field was heavily damaged and according to our reporter, fire departments are trying to keep it away from the house. The fire is at the intersection of County Roads 703 and 648.
This is an active scene and more details will be provided as they become available.
