CULLMAN, Ala. –  For three decades, Merchants Bank has hosted its annual Charity Classic golf tournament in early October, working to raise funds for local nonprofits. This year, the donation checks totaling $20,000 came just in time for Christmas for Cullman Caring for Kids, Brooks’ Place and Hospice of Cullman County.

Merchants Bank Vice President of Lending Ross West stressed the importance of giving a holiday boost to integral agencies in the community. Each nonprofit received a check for $6,000 to make serving other residents of Cullman just a bit easier in the coming months. West said a $2,000 donation to Boys and Girls Ranches of Alabama is also in order, bringing the final total to $20,000.

The funds were raised at the 30th annual Merchants Bank Charity Classic, held Oct. 2, 2023, which boasted a total of 136 players and 34 teams. West said without these players and a multitude of sponsors, this level of giving wouldn’t be possible.

“We cannot stress enough that this tournament is not possible without all our sponsors and players,” he said, mentioning plans to up the ante for the 31st Annual Merchants Bank Charity Classic to be held in October 2024. “We are looking forward to next year and continuing this great tournament!”
