Phyllis Jeanne (Livingston) Phillips passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023 at 2:24 p.m. She was born on July 12, 1930 in Akron, Ohio to Schley Hobson Livingston and Ethel Qwendolin Weeks. Jeanne was 93 years old.

Ms. Phillips resided and was raised in Cullman, Alabama, attending St. John’s church. She graduated from Howard (Samford) University in Birmingham, Alabama and obtained her Masters from University of Alabama. She proudly served the Cullman city school system for over 30 years.

After retirement, Jeanne obtained her licensing and went into the real estate business. She loved going to auctions and shopping at thrift stores. She bought, renovated, moved and rented several houses.

Jeanne was married for 57 years to Robert Carl “R.C.” Phillips who passed away Jan. 23, 2019. She had remarked that he was “the love of her life” even though he was an avid Auburn fan. They dressed appropriately on “game day” but enjoyed life together no matter which team won.

Jeanne and her husband both loved taking trips and meeting new people. Jeanne had very attentive 24 hour caregivers who helped fulfil her wish to stay at home. She loved Alabama football, her animals, taking photos, flowers/gardening, and learning about history, especially local.

Over the years she had compiled many mementos including a signed book and photo with both Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant and weatherman James Spann. She had many cats and dogs over the years. One of her most special pets was “Bama,” a beautiful black and white part border collie. Jeanne was a woman of great strength and character, pursuing two careers in her lifetime.

She carried herself with grace and dignity and was widely characterized by her unwavering love for God and her family.

A visitation for Jeanne will be held in the chapel on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Moss-Service Funeral Home, 1901 2nd Avenue, N.W., Cullman, Alabama 35055. With the funeral service starting at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery, Hanceville, AL.
