The dry season threatens the water supply in Cullman and Cullman County.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Crouen are visiting relatives here, before leaving for California, to make their home.

Glen Jetton, of Gold Ridge spent Saturday night with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Jelton.

Everyone should please remember the church supper at Mr. Tom Brown’s on the fourteenth of this month. It will be a good chicken supper.

There was a good singing at George Williamson’s on Sunday afternoon.

The candy making at Mr. Herbert Brock’s on Saturday night was enjoyed by all attending.

Mr. C.H. Grob is opening a new Western Auto Associate Store.

Colonel Thomas W. Millican, Ezra Williamson and Roy Ingle spent Monday in Scottsboro.

Alvin Camp spent the weekend at home with his parents.

Mrs. William Lessman is critically ill at her home on the Bremen road.

New members of the Hanceville Culture Club are Mrs. Joe Ray, Mrs. Fred Shauer, Mrs. James Edmondson and Mrs. Finley.

Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Johnson of Tuscaloosa spent Sunday in Cullman as the guests of their daughter, Mrs. H.B. Rowe and Mr. Rowe.

Doctor Sidney Morrow, of Birmingham, spent Sunday in Cullman as the guest of his mother, Mrs. Bess Morrow.

Fred Peinhardt spent Thursday in Birmingham.

The Panama Community is about finished picking cotton.

Most families need to inspect their buildings and other surroundings to see if everything looks safe from fire and accidents.

There will be a chicken supper at Walter School on Friday night.

Leroy Box died in Plains, Texas, at the age of 55 years. He has three sisters, Daisy, Lillie and Sardis.

Tom Muse has retired at the age of 65. He spent several days in Bremen, Georgia last week visiting his 105 year old mother.

Doctor Harry Fuller is heading a committee to raise money for new Cullman High School band uniforms.

Thomas Daniel Sloan, age 78, was fatally injured on Sunday afternoon about 1:30 when he was hit by an automobile.

A couple of bootleggers made the mistake of driving with lights too dim. When officers stopped the vehicle to investigate the lights, they smelled a  strong odor of “corn whiskey.” Officers found 29 gallons of Wildcat whiskey.

Mr. and Mrs. Francis Holcomb’s house and all the furnishings were completely destroyed by fire on Saturday at New Harmony.

Those attending the White City Home Demonstration Meeting on October 5th at Mrs. Herman Jones house were Mesdames, Clyde Kanady, Grover Cook, T. Brooks, Jack Morgan, Senior, Jack Morgan, Junior, Calvin Ryan, C.H. Thigpen, Vesta Hicks, E. Hestla, Roy Grubbs, R.A. Jacobs, Clyde Ryan, R.O. Trimble, J.B. Keller, Max Meyer, M.E. Wamp and Miss Della Harbison.

Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bishop of Birmingham visited Mr. and Mrs. William J. Daniel and family on Sunday.

Audry Lee Moore of Spring Hill is now employed at Walgreen’s.

Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Phillips, of Route One, Cullman, celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on October 8th at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cosper Speegle. There were eleven children, forty-three grandchildren and nineteen great- grandchildren present.

Hoover Cobb of Piney Grove was seriously injured in an automobile accident a few days ago.
