VINEMONT, Ala. – Families flocked to Snead’s Farmhouse for its Christmas on the Farm event Saturday, Dec. 9. The warmish sunny afternoon was the perfect break in the day’s dreary drizzly weather, allowing a few hours of farmhouse festivities.

Owner Judy Snead smiled and excitedly declared, “I am so happy the sun came out and it’s so beautiful! I’m so happy with everyone that came out.”

Refreshments were provided for hungry invitees to snack on while exploring Snead’s 17-acre property that doubles as a farm and an animal rescue. Ducks, goats, cows, peacocks, pigs and alpacas are just a few of the property’s inhabitants.

One rescued resident, Quacky-Jackie, is a Cullman local. Having been the victim of an animal attack at Sportsman Lake Park and ultimately losing a leg, Quacky-Jackie has integrated into the flock at the farm, and aids Snead in her lessons about limb differences and physical disabilities.

Snead said, “I use her as an anti-bullying example. The children see that she can do the same things as the other ducks; she doesn’t know she’s different, so we shouldn’t act like she is.”

West Point local with a powerhouse voice, Sophie Raine, kept guests swinging and bobbing along to her music as she covered classics and threw in some originals to please the crowd. Children giggled and raced around the farm, chasing after free-roaming chickens and peacocks. And of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus posed for pictures with awestruck kiddos who shared their Christmas lists.
