Obituary: Genevieve “Gen” Robbins Crawford

Funeral service for Genevieve “Gen” Robbins Crawford, age 86 of Cullman, will be at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with Mac Buttram officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home.

Genevieve “Gen” Robbins Crawford 86, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away on Nov. 22, 2023, surrounded by family. Genevieve was born to William Vester “Rex” and Verna Dye Robbins on Feb. 4, 1937, in Cullman County, Alabama.

Genevieve dedicated many years as a Homeroom Mother and a Brownie Troop Leader. As an exceptionally skilled seamstress she tailored dresses for the Atlanta Market and uniforms for the Hattiesburg Dixie Darlings. Genevieve’s most prized projects were the intricate dresses and costumes made for her own children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

With her passing Genevieve leaves a legacy of being an incredibly loving, attentive Mimi who happily made herself available to hold any of her babies for hours on end.

Genevieve is preceded in death by her parents and her husband James Garland “Bud” Crawford.

She is survived by her sister Ellen “Mickie” Coleman (Robert), brother Dale Robbins (Pam), daughters Crystal Crawford Phillips (Ken), Constance “Connie” Willis; grandchildren Meredith Hays (Ryan), Chandra Wolf (Stephen Stasiak), Christopher Willis (Ada), Erin Davis (Taylor), Candace Walker (Brandon), John Kenneth Phillips Jr.”Bucky”, Dusty Phillips, great grandchildren Allison Stidham, Katelynn Phillips, Abby Saturday, Aiden Hays, Ella Davis, Sophia Walker, Maci Hays, Vivienne Willis and Kadance Davis, and a host of nieces and nephews.
