PREP BASKETBALL: Lady Raiders collect 67-22 win over Dora at Wallace State Thanksgiving Classic

HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The Good Hope Lady Raiders were back in action Tuesday afternoon competing at this year’s Wallace State Thanksgiving Classic and after taking a tough loss at Clements Monday night, Good Hope bounced back with a 67-22 win over Dora. The Lady Raiders led 40-9 at the halftime break and cruised to a 67-22 victory in the second half.

A three-pointer from Heather Tetro gave the Lady Raiders an early, 3-2 lead and Good Hope’s next seven points came from Jolee McHan, stretching the lead to 10-4 midway through the opening period. Ivey Maddox followed her up with three straight shots from three-point range, making it a 19-4 game in the final minute of the first and Maddox laid in one more basket before the end of the quarter to put the Lady Raiders in front 21-4 at the start of the second.

Ava McSwain knocked down a three to start the second quarter and baskets from Charly Johnson, McHan and Heather Tetro extended the lead to 30-6. McSwain scored the next five points for Good Hope to make it a 35-6 game and after another bucket by Maddox, McSwain drained a three-pointer just before the end of the period to give the Lady Raiders a 40-9 advantage at halftime.

McSwain stayed hot when play resumed in the third quarter, knocking down two more threes and scoring the first eight points of the half for Good Hope to make it a 48-15 game. Baskets from Johnson and McHan added to the Raider lead and Maddox and McSwain both turned steals into easy buckets in the final minute of the third to help build a 58-18 Good Hope lead going into the fourth.

Heather Tetro and Lexi Marshall each scored early in the fourth quarter to make it a 62-18 game and McSwain tacked on five more points in the final minutes of the contest to wrap up a 67-22 win for the Lady Raiders.

McSwain led Good Hope with 26 points in the win, followed by Maddox with 15 and McHan with 13. The Lady Raiders will be back at Clements Wednesday night for a matchup against Loretto (TN).
