CULLMAN, Ala. – Local nonprofit Unsheltered International is dedicated to helping unsheltered and unhoused individuals and connecting resources to the people who may need them most. As part of the organization’s community outreach, it will partner with local food truck The Street Kitchen to host a free Thanksgiving meal for Cullman County families in need on Wednesday, Nov. 22, at 6:30 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church.
“Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and we are ready!” said Unsheltered International President and Founder Travis Sharpe. “Our staff has planned a special Thanksgiving meal and preaching service for this coming Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.”
The meal will be held in Temple Baptist Church’s gym, with the message prior to the meal.
Said Sharpe, “I will be speaking and presenting the gospel, so please pray that many will be receptive to the gospel message.”
The holiday season can be lonely for some. Seniors, single adults or individuals with no support system could potentially spend a large chunk of the holidays with no other meaningful interaction. Sharpe lamented, “The plan is to be a blessing to people who otherwise wouldn’t have a Thanksgiving meal with family or friends.”
Sharpe said he created Unsheltered International to not only put needed resources into the hands of the community’s most vulnerable, but also to spread the gospel to anyone who needs to hear and is open to a message.
Showers, food and assistance with clothing and hygiene items are just a few things Unsheltered International offers to its local clients.
Outreach Specialist Savannah Smith said, “Our local ministry here in this area includes emergency services for the homeless and our new project called The Village, a tiny-home community that we are currently developing.”
Temple Baptist Church is located at 30 County Road 1184.
