ARLEY, Ala. – After collecting a road win over Cherokee last week,Meek returned home to Tiger Stadium Friday night to host its regular season finale against Oakman. Unfortunately for the home crowd, the Wildcats put together one of their best performances of the season and raced past the Tigers 69-26.
The Tigers jumped out to a 6-0 lead over Oakman early in the first quarter, but the Wildcats answered quickly, scoring 28 unanswered points to move in front of Meek 28-6 early in the second quarter. The Tigers were able to finish a couple drives in the end zone in the second to get some points on the board before the end of the half, but Oakman continued to add to its lead, building a 49-20 advantage by the halftime break.
Both teams exchanged scores in the third quarter to make it a 56-26 game going into the fourth, but the Tigers were unable to get on the board in the final period and Oakman was able to extend its lead, bringing the final score to 69-26 in favor of the Wildcats.
Meek will look to shake this one off this week before traveling to South Lamar for the opening round of the state playoffs Nov. 10.
