CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman Farm-City will host its annual Farm City Tour on Nov. 1, departing from the Cullman County Extension Office. Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes, as they will be visiting a handful of Cullman’s beautiful farms, witnessing and learning about the impact they have on the community of Cullman.

Alabama Farm-City’s theme for 2023 is Agritourism: Connecting Alabama Farms and Communities; agritourism is essentially commercializing a farm and its happenings into an attraction for the public to visit and explore. Local pumpkin patches, you-pick berry farms and sunflower fields open to the public all fall under agritourism in the Cullman community. The tour will travel the countryside of the southeast corner of Cullman to peek inside the life of local agritourism farms such as Graveman Farm, 4D Farms, Hillcrest Farms and the Berlin Farmers Market.

Kira Sims of the Cullman County Extension Office said, “We are excited to be able to show Michael Graveman’s farm, who was the Farm Family winner from 2021.”

The tour will make another stop and let guests visit Ashley Wilson and Curt’s Closet, winners of the 2022 Family City award.

Guests can register to attend the Farm-City Tour at Merchants Bank on Second Avenue through Friday, Oct. 27. Lunch and transportation are included in the registration cost of $20, although guests can expect to take home more than $20 worth of knowledge about local farms employing agritourism and its effect on a farm’s sustainability and impact on the community.

“The tour will depart at 9 a.m. from the Cullman County Extension Office on Nov. 1. Transportation and lunch is included in the $20 tour registration. We’ll return to the office no later than 3:30 p.m.,” Sims said. “Anyone interested in participating can register at Merchants Bank on Second Avenue through Friday, Oct. 27. Space is limited, so sign up soon!”

The Cullman Farm-City tour is expected to depart at 9 a.m. from the Cullman County Extension office located at 402 Arnold St. NE. Transportation to and from the highlighted farms is included in the registration fee, and lunch will be provided at no additional cost. Each farm visited is allotted 30-60 minutes to tour, and participants will return and disembark the tour at approximately 3:30 p.m. at the Cullman County Extension Office.
