CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Coroner’s Office made a grim discovery on Wednesday, Oct. 25, when they responded to a welfare check at a residence on 281 County Road 1210. The deceased individual has been identified as 35-year-old Lacy Jean Laney of Cullman.
Jeremy Kilpatrick, Cullman County Coroner, confirmed that Laney’s body was found at 5:18 p.m. and has since been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Lt. Chad Whaley, Director of Communications for the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), stated that details surrounding the death remain limited but emphasized that an investigation is actively underway.
In a related development, Kyle Len Laney, 38, also of Cullman and believed to be associated with the deceased, was arrested on unrelated drug charges. The charges include possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
While the investigation is ongoing, authorities have not directly linked Kyle Laney’s arrest to Lacy Jean Laney’s death. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
