HANCEVILLE, Ala. — The Wallace State Community College Alumni Association is accepting reservations for a planned trip to Huntsville to see Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
The group will attend a matinee showing on Feb. 17 at the Von Braun Civic Center in Huntsville.
Best known for his role as John-Boy on “The Waltons” television series, Richard Thomas takes on the role of Atticus Finch in the Broadway play based off Lee’s 1960 novel by the same name. Inspired by Lee’s own childhood in Alabama, the play features one of literature’s towering symbols of integrity and righteousness in Atticus Finch, who was based on Lee’s father. The character of Scout, based on Lee herself, has come to define youthful innocence — and its inevitable loss — for generation after generation or readers around the world.
The cost is $120 per person and includes transportation to and from Wallace State and a ticket for lower balcony seating. The group will stop for Dutch treat lunch prior to the show. The group will leave at 11 a.m. from Wallace State and return around 7 p.m.
A limited number of tickets is available. To register visit www.wsccalumni.org/MB24. The deadline to register is Jan. 26.
