Mrs. Lott was born on Nov. 24, 1928, to the late Alex Clark and Susie Mae Dodgen-Clark in Cullman, Alabama. She passed away at the age of 94 on Oct. 22, 2023, at The Folsom Center in Cullman, Alabama. After the passing of her late husband, Sonny; Betty enrolled and attended Wallace State Community College. Spending several years there, she obtained a degree in Culinary Arts, and an associate degree in medical transcription. In addition, she also spent roughly 25 working in the genealogy department at WSCC as well as the upholstery department.
Betty was also deep in her faith and a devoted member of Mountain Grove Congregational Church, serving as a clerk in her earlier years then transitioning to a treasurer for approximately 40 years. Most would say that she was the best Sunday School teacher around. Early mornings and late nights were no burden when it came to seeing after the church. If there was an event to be planned, a meal to be served, or a floor that needed sweeping, Betty was the one you could always count on. Many of us here will miss her sweet and nurturing soul; however, she is in the hands of Jesus where she has longed to be.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Yates; grandchildren, Adam Lott, Amanda Yates-Burns (Chris), Gerald Lott, and Lyndzee Diffy (Justin); great grandchildren, Mark Lott, Ponder Lott, Jaxx Diffy, Lakelee Diffy, Everleigh Diffy, Journi Diffy, Caitlyn Crabtree, Kaden Crabtree, and Kelsie Crabtree; brothers, James Clark (Betty), David Clark, and Henry Clark (Peggy); sister, Myrlie Davis; daughter-in-law, Brenda Etheredge (Mike); and a host of many nieces, nephews, and others bound by love.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lott was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Lott; sons, Dennis Lott and Mark Lott; sisters, Mary Clark, Hazel Bush, and Ruth Smith; and son-in-law, Lawden Yates.
Hanceville Funeral Home is honored to serve the Lott Family.
