Funeral services for Audrey Davis Carlisle, 83, of Hanceville, will be 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, at the Hanceville Funeral Home chapel. Brother Mike King will be officiating. Burial will follow the service at Center Hill cemetery. Visitation for the public will be from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2023 at Hanceville Funeral Home.
Mrs. Carlisle was born Jan. 31, 1940, in Blountsville, to the late Hoyt and May McElroy. She passed away Oct. 17, 2023 in Cullman, AL.
Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Sweatmon Bates (Perry); her grandchildren, Ryan Douglas Lambert (Kim), Amanda Nicole Vaughn (Nick), Julie Bates; siblings, Ernestine Davis Gray, and M.C. Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was a lifetime caregiver of the sick and elderly. She loved shopping and looking good. She married Benny Dec. 27, 1983 and he was the love of her life.
In addition to her parents, Hoyt and May McElroy, Mrs. Carlisle was preceded in death by her husband, Benny Ray Carlisle; her son, Danny Ray Sweatmon; siblings, Imogene Davis Mead, Christine Davis Osborne, Evelyn Davis Ayers, and her twin brother Aubrey Davis.
