Geraldine Sweatmon, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away on Oct. 9, 2023, at the age of 89. Ms. Sweatmon was born in Cullman County, Alabama, on Jan. 13, 1934, to Benjamin Bloomer and Ruby Sherrer Robertson.
Ms. Geraldine was a graduate of Holly Pond High School and long-time resident of the area. She was gifted with a green thumb and loved raising flowers and vegetable plants from her greenhouse. Ms. Sweatmon was proud of her booth at Lacon, which she was actively running until recently, where she sold her beautiful plants. She spoiled her little dogs, Jane and Pee-Wee, and enjoyed the companionship she found with her pups. Geraldine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family and enjoyed cooking special dishes for them. Ms. Sweatmon was a special Maw Maw, and she will be missed greatly.
Ms. Sweatmon is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Earl Cornelius, Daniel Sweatmon; sons, Ricky Cornelius, Micky Cornelius; daughter, Diane Kilgore; brother, Buddy; and sisters, Betty Jean, Pearlie May, and Lillie Jane.
She is survived by six grandchildren, Chris, Stephanie, Amy, Krystal, Nicole, Cody; brother, Wayne; sister, Norma Fay; brother-in-law, Henry; and a host of great-grandchildren.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held at New Hope #2 at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, following visitation, with Pete Grund officiating.
