CULLMAN, Ala.  – On Oct. 6, 2023, deputies from the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 65 near Exit 310. According to Lt. Chad Whaley, CCSO director of communications, the driver was identified as Tyler Lee Gregory, 30, of Reform.

A subsequent search allegedly found Gregory in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine. Further investigation of his vehicle allegedly revealed an additional stash of meth, totaling approximately 87 grams, and associated paraphernalia.

Gregory was arrested and now faces charges of trafficking in methamphetamine and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains in custody at the Cullman County Detention Center with a bond, set at $500,000, according to Whaley.

A day earlier, on Oct. 5, deputies stopped a vehicle in the Berlin community. The driver, Jason Earl Shirley, 40, of Hanceville, was allegedly discovered with an even larger haul of methamphetamine—over 130 grams—along with prescription medications and drug paraphernalia.

Whaley said Shirley was arrested and is currently facing charges of trafficking in methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Shirley is being held at the Cullman County Detention Center, with a bond also set at $500,000.

In a separate incident on Oct. 6, deputies arrested Scotty Joe Wright, 42, of Bremen, on several outstanding failure to appear warrants. The charges, originating from a 2021 incident, include unlawful possession of dangerous drugs, marijuana production and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
