VINEMONT, Ala. – At the Vinemont Town Council meeting Tuesday night, resident Shirley Arnett addressed the council members regarding a previously discussed U-turn on U.S. Highway 31 North. The council voted to add a “right turn only” sign at the Town’s right of way at the end of Park Drive.
The council approved a payment of $24,152.00 to the Alabama Municipal Insurance Corporation, to be broken into three payments of $8,050.66. AMIC holds the Town of South Vinemont’s liability, automobile and property insurances.
Arrangements for the Vinemont’s annual BBQ-Fest, which will be held Oct. 21, were a topic of discussion. The council agreed to provide an ATM for patrons to boost cash sales with vendors on-site. BBQ-Fest will take place at the Vinemont Sports Complex, beginning at 10 a.m. and concluding at 4 p.m.
The following events were discussed:
- Beginning Thursday, Oct 12, Patton Drive and Cheryl Street will be receiving maintenance; expect delays.
- Vinemont Senior Luncheon will be Oct. 16 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., with soup and sandwiches for refreshments.
- Vinemont Schools will host a trunk-or-treat Oct. 29 from 5-7 p.m.
- Vinemont’s Annual Thanksgiving Community Meal will be held Nov. 18 in the Vinemont lunchroom from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Town of Vinemont Christmas Tree Lighting and Tinsel Trail will be Dec. 9, time TBD.
